I looked forward to this weekend for a long time. I'm a Monarchist and enjoy the pomp and circumstance the Brits have in their traditions. I've always admired Queen Elizabeth for her years of service to her country and the Commonwealth.
I recorded the Trooping of the Colour and the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral. I didn't watch them in the middle of the night, but after dinner when I had no interruptions and I could enjoy it all.
Yesterday, I tried to find the Platinum Party at the Palace on TV. It was not being broadcast by any Canadian television station. I tried to find it on You Tube but could only find small clips. Then I saw ABC in the US was broadcasting it. What happened to our Canadian networks? I watched it and it was excellent. I'm hoping it will be rebroadcast so anyone who wants to watch this memorable concert can see it.
It start with Queen and ended with Diana Ross. Prince Charles made a beautiful tribute to "mummy" and Prince William talked about the planet. The speeches were short. I must sat the Brits really know how to celebrate! This performance had something for every taste.
If you have walked the Mall, you can see how far back these people are. There were TV's so they could see the performance. With tickets, they were there eight hours before the show started.
I hope Canadian channels show this in it's entirety at a later date. If you didn't see it, I found this 2 minute video of highlights of the concert on You Tube:
