Tipping?

Tipping in Australia is not customary.  Workers generally make sufficient income and do not depend on gratuities left by tourists.  However,  it always depends on the situation.  If you feel that the service was exceptional, it's good etiquette to leave a small tip, but know this will not be expected.

I wish Canada and the US would pay their employees a decent wage.  I've always tipped servers and after COVID, I never tip less than 20%, sometimes more.  I truly appreciate the servers that returned to work and serve us well.

Has tipping got out of control?  I ordered a pizza on the Dominos app for pick up.  They want a tip.  I placed the order, I picked up the order and yes they made it but ???   Same with Quiznos.  I place the order on the app, walked over and picked it up and again tip, yes or no?  I gave them both 10% but wonder if it's really necessary.  I wish they would pay their workers a decent wage, and increase the price.  Should I tip more?

I saw this last night:

Tip the door entry fee?  Huh???

The other day I was driving past Wendy's and Cec wanted lunch.  I ordered a burger for him and a salad for me.  While I was waiting at the window, they closed it.  On the window was a sign "we charge 25 cents for bags".  I know Surrey passed the by-law for no more plastic bags, but Wendy's always used paper bags.  They put my order in two bags.  Was I charged 50 cents?  No idea, they make me tap and never give me a receipt.  When I go through the drive-thru, I don't even need a bag.  Cash grab for Wendy's?

Starting to plan next year's vacation
