The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

On August 6th the Royal Princess pulled into the harbour of Saint Peter Port in Guernsey.  Unfortunately fog is a problem at Guernsey and August 6th did have morning fog.  The Royal Princess cancelled all shore excursions.  We hadn't booked anything but knew it was walk able and there is a local public bus you can take around the island for £1.00.

The fog lifted about 11 AM but the weather was exceptionally hot and we were still a little jet lagged and tired from our busy three days in Southampton.  We all decided we would enjoy the ship.  Hopefully if I ever get back to the UK, I can take the ferry to Guernsey and really explore this beautiful island.

In the spring of 2017, I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.  I really enjoyed the book.  I heard they were making a feature film and it was released on August 10th on Netflix.  Yesterday I watched it and it didn't disappoint.
The Movie Promo

The film starred four Downton Abbey actors: Lily James, Matthew Goode, Jessica Brown Findlay and Dame Penelope Wilton.  Principal photography began on 21 March 2017 in North Devon, England. Exterior shots were filmed at Princes Wharf, Bristol to represent Weymouth Docks in 1946. For the London portion of the shoot, photography took place on Sicilian Avenue.

It was a great adaptation of a good book.
