This is my first trip on this Princess ship. I’ve been on the sister ships so we know our way around. She just came out of a major refurbishing. The updates are very noticeable. The best new feature is Medallion-Net. It’s their new internet and interactive function. You load five apps on your phone. They all have a special purpose. You get a free water-proof medallion that can be worn on the wrist or around your neck.
There are five apps that work with the Medallion:
Ocean Ready – you upload your passport and check in information so you just walk on board – no need to check in. If you live in the US, they Fedex you the Ocean Medallion. We picked ours up at the pier.
Ocean Compass – the ship’s deck plan and directory
Ocean Now – what’s happening and where
Ocean View – all kinds of information and videos
Ocean Casino app but I don’t gamble so I didn’t download this app.
You can order drinks, text other passengers. All the ship’s shows, bars, dining venues are all accessible using the apps. Wi-fi for the apps is free. For internet use there is a charge, but unlimited internet is available for four devices so it’s easy to connect with home. They say you can’t use voice apps but I haven’t tried. Being in Canada, I have my cell phone. They advertise the fastest internet at sea. It is good but not as fast as home. It’s sure an improvement over the last satellite service they had!

We've stayed in everything from interior to a two bedroom deluxe suite. This time an obstructed ocean view was a little more than an inside and a lot cheaper than a balcony. I didn't think we'd use the balcony much as this trip is port intensive so for the first time I booked an obstructed OV. I was surprised and how little the block is. I would book this room again!
