Resort fees

When it was safe to travel after COVID, I thought we could travel to Las Vegas.  Las Vegas is always fun and while we don't gamble, we love the shows and the shopping.  I went onto some hotel sites and found the Flamingo for US$19 a night!  I thought what a great deal, I chose my dates and went to check out.  At check-out the resort fee, payable at check-out of the hotel was $60.00 a night, so the actual price was US$79.00 a night plus taxes (13.38% hotel tax and 8.38% state, county and city tax).  Although that was a decent price, I was so upset at the deception, we didn't go.

Then the 2024 election happened and President Tr*mp decided to call us the 51st state, called our Prime Minister, Governor and applied tariffs on our country.  Visiting Las Vegas is never going to happen until a change of government with a President that respects Canada.  It appears it's not only Canadians staying away.

I really like visiting Las Vegas and I miss it but I won't be changing my mind.  I saw a tv news report from the US and they showed the Las Vegas airport.  Normally, very busy, however now, empty.

I wonder how many of these advertisements will appear.  It won't change my mind, but I do feel sorry for the people who earn their living on the strip!

No more resort fees in this Las Vegas property, at least for now! Is this a sign that the old Las Vegas is making a comeback?
According to the Review-Journal, the historic Sahara Las Vegas just became the latest Strip hotel to ELIMINATE its $55 resort fee — at least for now.
Their new “All-In Rate Experience” is running through Oct. 31 — but here’s the catch: you gotta book it by Aug. 10. Locals and tourists, this one’s for you!
✨ Do you think more Vegas hotels should follow their lead and drop those annoying fees?

Yes!

Immigration Canada and the Criminal Code of Canada

I often wonder about our Immigration system and the Criminal Code of Canada.  Criminals keep finding ways to circumvent the system.  I heard...
