South Queensferry/Edinburgh

Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrod Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.  Every June, Queen Elizabeth holds a Garden Party in Edinburgh.  If you are Canadian and want to apply to go, subscribe to the Canada House newsletter or ask me to send you the link.  Applications are usually in January and you only have a two week window to apply.

We anchored this morning at 7 AM, so they say.  I was in a deep wonderful sleep.  We had a nice breakfast in the dining room.  Cec didn’t want to go into Edinburgh as we’ve been before but Jean has never been to Edinburgh so her and I took the tender into South Queensferry.

There was an express bus into Edinburgh.  It took us right to the Scott Monument.  From there we asked a local which way to the hop on hop off bus.  We bought our ticket and it looked like rain to me, so I told Jean to sit downstairs.  Thankfully we did because five minutes later the downpour started.  We stayed in our downstairs covered seats until the bus returned to where we got on.  We got off, back to the 99 Xpress bus and back on the ship.  It stopped raining when our tour was over and there was some blue sky.  Typical Scotland weather.   It is 67F which is very pleasant,

We had a late lunch in the buffet.  The movie Book Club was being shown in the Vista Lounge but we got back too late.  It will be available in our rooms so if I want a nice movie, I hear this one is good.  Team Trivia is at 4:15 and our dinner is at 5:30.

Tonight we have a Master Musical Impressionist, Greg London in the Theatre.  Lots of other activities and shows to take in.  Not sure what we’ll attend, as we decide at dinner,

Tomorrow is another glorious day at sea.  The seas are very calm so far which is great for the first time cruisers.

So many things to celebrate today

Here are today's celebrations.  I am about to drink an espresso, have some cashews and cranberries and go to the SPCA and check out the ...
