The greatest country?

On December 14, 2012 when a 20 year old walked into Sandy Hook Elementary and shot 26 people, mostly young students in a school I thought that would change the gun laws in the US.  That was ten years ago and the shootings in the US never stopped.  If that didn't move the lawmakers in the US, I doubt they will never change and this will continue.

They call themselves pro-life but at 18 you can buy an two assault rifles and shot students a school, concert goers in Las Vegas, theatre goers at a movie theatre,  shoppers in a super market, or worshippers in a church or synagogue!   It will never stop until they change their gun laws.

Steve Kerr gets it right!  Why won't they listen?

I am so glad to be Canadian and hope we never change our parliamentary system and become a Republic.  It isn't working for our neighbours!

I love this Japanese Doctor

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?

A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste time on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it’s like saying you extend life of a car by driving faster. Want to live longer? - Take nap

.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that means they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. - Bottoms up!

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...very good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around.

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is also a shape!

Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember
:
Finally, the Japanese Doctor summed up: Look mister, Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride my life was"!!!!!

Eat whatever you like because you will still DIE, don't allow motivational speakers deceive you.
1. The inventor of the treadmill had died at the age of 54.
2. The inventor of gymnastics died at the age of 57.
3. The world bodybuilding champion died at the age of 41.
4. The best footballer in the world Maradona, died at the age of 60.
BUT
5. The KFC inventor died at 94.
6. Inventor of Nutella brand died at the age of 88.
7. Imagine, cigarette maker Winston died at the age of 102.
8. The inventor of opium died at the age of 116 in an earthquake.
9. Hennessey Cognac inventor dies at 98.

How did these doctors come to the conclusion that exercise prolongs life?

The rabbit is always jumping up and down but it lives for only 2 years and the turtle that doesn’t exercise at all, lives 400 years.
So, take some rest, Chill, stay cool, eat, drink and enjoy your life.

Post Cruise

I took a COVID test on Saturday when I returned home as we both had an appointment for Sunday morning for our 4th COVID shot.  It was negative.

We cruised with four other friends.  Two of our friends had COVID a couple of months ago and the rest of us were never infected.  We were all triple vaccinated.  On Sunday night, one of our cruise mates texted to say her husband had tested positive on Saturday for COVID and she tested positive on Sunday.  They never had COVID and were not very sick.  On Monday afternoon, Cec said he really didn't feel well.  I took his temperature and it was 39.3!  I'm not all that familiar with Celsius body temperatures but it said at 39.4C go to ER!  We both did COVID tests, his was positive, mine was negative.  I gave him cold cloths and he took aspirins.  I immediately called 811 to report these cases.  Not only did they not take our name or care card numbers, they really didn't care.  She gave me an 800 # if he got really sick!  She also told me not to test!

By Wednesday he was feeling much better.  He had his high temperature for 12 hours.  He also had aches and cold type symptoms. His cold was much better and aches almost gone.  I was exhausted!  I wasn't sure if it was holiday let down so I waited to get a high temperature.  It never came.  On Thursday night I got a bad cold that kept me up most of the night.  Friday morning I tested positive.  I never got aches or a temperature and I can just say it's a bad cold.

The hand out they gave us at our vaccine appointment said there is no live virus in the shot.  I'm pretty sure we picked it up on the ship.  We took all precautions but go it anyway.  I am not sorry I went on the cruise.  I'm hoping this will give us immunity from any further cases.  Neither one of us got very ill so I would assume the vaccines gave us protection from a serious case.  Dr. Bonnie said everyone will get COVID and I'm relieved it's almost over.

The other couple who had COVID two months before the cruise are fine.  They never got infected.

It's Sunday and I feel okay.  I'm quarantining so I don't pass it on to anyone if I am still infected.  I am convinced the vaccine works!

Our mayor is in the news again!

Thanks to Global TV for the great investigative reporter who got some court documents unsealed.  The police have video showing Mayor McCallum lied to the police.  I hope he steps aside and if his high priced lawyer gets him off on a technicality, the truth is in this article:

McCallum lied to the police

Continuous battle of the bulge

I was on a cruise for 12 days and gained 0.8 lbs!  If I didn't have the alcohol package, I probably would have lost weight.  People always say you gain on a cruise.  On our first cruises we did gain and then we figured it out.

  • Stay away from the buffet (or as my husband calls it "the trough")
  • Take the stairs whenever possible
  • Don't snack between meals (those treats at the International Cafe are so good)
  • Drink lots of water (when we were in the bar most nights I'd order a Perrier)
  • Order fruit whenever possible instead of a dessert
Hopefully on our next cruise in 36 days I will lose.  We didn't get the alcohol package!

The life of a cat

Persephone, my granddaughter's new kitten, has made herself at home.  She's being a lovely pet to Lexie.  Snowstorm, the predecessor, lived in Lexie's room.  He was a very lovable cat.  Roxy the other house cat is independent and doesn't like Lexie.  She doesn't like me either but she loves Cheryl and Dave.  Cats do what they do and there is no changing them.

Persephone has bonded with Lexie.  She stays in her room at night and loves to be picked up and petted.  I'm so glad she's settling in so well.

Roxy is much nicer to Persephone than she ever was with Snowstorm.  I'm wondering if it's because she's still a kitten and Roxy has some motherly tendencies.  Anyway, it's been nice they are putting up with each other with a little noise but no fights!

That's a little unsettling but they put up with each other.

Roxy sits on top of the chair

Persephone is a climber!
